Aastra joins the United Nations' Global Copact Plan fo Ethical Business 

Aastra, a global provider of enterprise communication products, systems and solutions, has signed up to the UN Global Compact Plan, the world’s largest corporate social responsibility (CSR) agreement. In joining, Aastra further extends its existing CSR policies, including its ‘EthoSourcing’ approach to hiring ethical suppliers.

The UN Global Compact is a framework for companies that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. As the world's largest, global corporate citizenship initiative, the UN Global Compact is first and foremost concerned with exhibiting and building the social legitimacy of business and markets.

Members of the UN Global Compact demonstrate leadership by advancing responsible corporate citizenship, developing practical solutions to problems related to globalisation, sharing practices and learning.

Francis Shen, Chairman and co-CEO, said: “By joining the UN Global Compact we express our intent to support and advance key principles within our sphere of influence. We are committed to making the UN Global Compact and its principles part of the strategy, culture and day-to-day operations of our company, making a clear statement of this commitment to our employees, partners, clients and the public.”

Since the launch of the UN Global Compact on 26 July 2000, the initiative has grown to almost 5, 000 participants, including over 3, 700 businesses in 120 countries around the world.
