Aastra extends Mobile Client availability to drive business mobility
The Aastra Mobile Client will offer advanced integrated mobility for businesses of all sizes
Farnborough, 8th December 2009 – Aastra has announced that it will make its Aastra Mobile Client available across its call control manager range bringing fixed mobile convergence (FMC) to businesses of all sizes.
With a user-friendly mobile interface, the Aastra Mobile Client offers a simple way to integrate mobile devices into enterprise communications.
• For improved productivity and a more efficient call management, desk phone functionalities such as call brokering, conferencing, call routing service and short number dialling can now be available on a mobile phone.
• One-number calling and a single voicemail help members of staff to be more reachable and responsive to customers and colleagues.
• Enterprise businesses that use Aastra Mobile Client could also benefit from reduced mobile call charges by using the built-in Mobile Least Cost Routing functions.
The Aastra Mobile Client supports a wide range of mobile phones and smartphones popular with business users: Symbian OS S60 including Nokia, LG, and Samsung and BlackBerry RIM OS smartphones. The Aastra Mobile Client is already available on Aastra’s IntelliGate, Aastra 800, OpenCom 100 and MX-ONE Telephony Server call control manager ranges and it will now be available to businesses using Business Phone and OpenCom 1000 ranges.
“Aastra believes that mobility is a crucial accelerator to the adoption of unified communications solutions. The Aastra Mobile Client brings the best of both worlds together: mobility and key features of enterprise communications in a really user friendly interface.” said Stefan Möller, Product Manager for the Aastra Mobile Client. “Mobile phones have become an indispensible tool for enterprise communications. With more and more business done on the move or remotely, it is vital that companies be able to integrate mobility into their communications environment for improved productivity, reachability and responsiveness.”
The Aastra Mobile Client can easily be installed on mobile devices as an application via SMS or file download, using a straightforward activation imperceptible to the end user. As the Aastra Mobile Client is licence-based, companies can adopt this fixed mobile convergence solution as needed: for a small group of mobile users or an entire fleet of mobile phones for businesses of all sizes and in all vertical sectors requiring mobility beyond the company’s premises (transportation, utility…).
“The ability to remain connected while on the move has changed the way many business users and even whole companies operate. Today’s enterprise FMC options un-tether workers, allowing previously desk bound workers to retain access to their corporate communications services while taking on new tasks away from their desks. In general the latest FMC solutions improve a mobile user’s reachability and accessibility, decrease phone tag, and increase responsiveness and time available to interact with customers.
Due to the productivity benefits and tough economic times, enterprise FMC solutions will increasingly be viewed as means to reduce the employee payroll that is required to support a business.” declared Rob Arnold, Senior Analyst at Current Analysis .
The Aastra Mobile Client further strengthens Aastra’s comprehensive product portfolio which delivers mobility solutions (including DECT, SIP DECT, voice over WLAN and integrated Mobile Extension) to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes.
